Padilla, seeking a fifth consecutive UFC win, missed the 156-pound non-title limit at 158 pounds during Friday weigh-ins, forfeiting 20% of his purse in a catchweight bout that proceeded without withdrawal. Pre-fight trader consensus leaned toward Padilla's fight IQ and adjustment prowess in a stylistic striker-vs-grappler matchup, though Mederos' reach advantage (5'10" vs. 5'9") and momentum kept it competitive; the razor-close fight ended in a majority draw after scoring correction (29-27 x2 Padilla, 28-28).
