Recent de-escalation in Middle East tensions, including pauses in planned U.S. actions toward Iran, has reduced immediate safe-haven demand for gold, contributing to price consolidation near $4,038–$4,269 per ounce in early August 2026. This follows six weeks of tight range trading above yearly lows amid a firmer U.S. dollar and shifting rate-cut expectations. Traders are watching upcoming nonfarm payrolls and other labor data for signals on Federal Reserve policy, as higher real yields or sustained dollar strength could pressure XAU/USD further, while any renewed inflation concerns or risk-off moves might support rebounds. The market reflects aggregated sentiment on these macro forces rather than directional certainty.
