Top-seeded Mirra Andreeva (WTA No. 10), riding a 14-6 record with an Adelaide title this year, meets surging unseeded Elena-Gabriela Ruse (No. 87) in the Upper Austria Ladies Linz WTA 500 semifinals on indoor clay. Andreeva holds a 1-0 head-to-head edge, defeating Ruse 6-3, 6-4 in the Australian Open third round on hardcourt in January. Yesterday's quarterfinals shaped trader sentiment: Andreeva outlasted Sorana Cirstea in three sets to open her clay campaign post-March back injury recovery, while Ruse notched her first WTA 500 semifinal via a resilient 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 upset over fourth seed Jelena Ostapenko, following wins over Katie Boulter and Dayana Yastremska. Ruse's momentum challenges Andreeva's ranking superiority in this European clay swing opener.
