Daniel Merida Aguilar enters the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell qualifying first round with strong momentum after reaching the Bucharest ATP 250 clay-court final last week, where he fell to Mariano Navone, propelling him to a career-high No. 101 ranking. The Spaniard holds a 1-0 head-to-head lead over Francesco Maestrelli, defeating the Italian 6-2, 6-4 in the February Tenerife 1 Challenger hard-court final. Maestrelli, ranked No. 114 with a solid 26-16 clay record over the past year, relies on his consistent baseline game but faces a home-crowd boost for Merida on outdoor clay. No injuries reported for either, leaving the outcome hinging on serve efficiency and stamina in this best-of-three-sets matchup.
