Nebraska's 2nd Congressional District race features an open seat after Republican incumbent Don Bacon announced his retirement in June 2025. The district carries a slight Democratic lean, with Kamala Harris carrying it by five points in the prior presidential contest. Democratic nominee Denise Powell defeated state Sen. John Cavanaugh in the May 2026 primary, while Republican nominee Brinker Harding, an Omaha city councilor, ran unopposed in his primary. Nonpartisan ratings from Cook Political Report, Inside Elections, and others classify the contest as Lean Democratic or Tilt Democratic. Recent polling has shown Powell leading Harding, consistent with the district's partisan voting index and the structural advantages of an open seat in this Omaha-area battleground. Traders appear to weigh these factors heavily in assessing general election odds three months before November voting.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
