Kyrian Jacquet enters the Estoril Open qualifying draw as the clear favorite against Portuguese teenager Goncalo Da Rosa Castro, driven by a substantial gap in ranking, recent form, and professional experience. Jacquet, currently ranked around No. 130 with a career-high of No. 102, has competed in multiple 2026 Grand Slams—including a first-round win at Wimbledon as a qualifier—and holds a 1-3 record on the ATP level this season, most recently exiting in the Umag round of 32 on clay. Castro, a 17-year-old ranked outside the ATP top 1,000, has competed primarily in ITF M15/M25 events with modest results and limited exposure to higher-level clay competition. The red-clay surface at the ATP 250 event aligns with Jacquet’s background, while the qualification format favors the more established player’s consistency and physical durability heading into the July 18 match.
