Anthropic continues rapid iteration within its Claude 4 family, most recently launching Opus 4.8 on May 28, 2026, with gains in honesty, tool use, and agentic benchmarks, coinciding with a $65 billion funding round at a $965 billion valuation. Traders focus on whether the next major generational leap—widely anticipated as Claude 5—arrives in Q2 or Q3 2026, following patterns from Claude 3 to 3.5 and the 4.x cadence, amid competition from OpenAI and Google models. Internal codenames like Mythos and Fennec fuel speculation, but Anthropic has not confirmed a Claude 5 label or exact timeline, creating uncertainty around release thresholds such as public API or claude.ai availability. Key near-term signals include any roadmap updates or benchmark shifts that could accelerate or delay the transition.

For this market to resolve to "Yes," Claude 5 must be launched and publicly accessible, including via open beta or open rolling waitlist signups. A closed beta or any form of private access will not suffice. The release must be clearly defined and publicly announced by Anthropic as being accessible to the general public.
Claude 5 refers to a product explicitly named Claude 5 (e.g. Claude 5.0 would count), or one that is recognized as a successor to Claude 4, similar to the progression from Claude 2 to Claude 3. Products labeled as Claude 4.5 or similar will not count for this market's resolution.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from Anthropic, with additional verification from a consensus of credible reporting.
