Samaira Pahwa faces Jessica Schilz in the first round of the ITF W35 Hillcrest on outdoor hard courts, with the Indian qualifier carrying recent momentum after a straight-sets win over Tayla Wilmot in the same event on July 5. Pahwa has posted a 3-2 record on hard courts in 2026, including victories in lower-level ITF events, while Schilz, a South African wildcard, enters after a lopsided 6-1 6-0 loss to Elena Jamshidi in the tournament’s opening round. Schilz has limited recent success at this level and holds no prior head-to-head history against Pahwa. The local crowd and home-soil factor could provide a boost for the 18-year-old Schilz, yet Pahwa’s sharper recent form and experience on the surface position her as the clearer favorite in this matchup.
