The Cleveland Guardians enter this three-game series at Progressive Field with the best record in the AL Central at 32-23, bolstered by strong home pitching and defense that has limited opponents in recent weeks. The Washington Nationals, sitting at 27-27 and looking to push above .500 for the first time this season, have shown improved road form and offensive output, highlighted by their 10-2 win on May 25. Starting pitching depth remains a concern for both clubs, with multiple Nationals arms on the injured list and Guardians infielder Gabriel Arias sidelined by a hamstring strain. The matchup features contrasting styles, as Cleveland’s balanced attack faces a Nationals lineup seeking consistent production against quality AL pitching.
