Qinwen Zheng, a former world No. 4 and Olympic champion, faces Jaqueline Cristian in the first round of the 2026 HSBC Championships at Queen’s Club on grass. Zheng brings superior ranking, power baseline game, and serve that translates well to the surface, though she continues managing a right elbow issue that sidelined her for much of late 2025 and early 2026. Cristian, a lower-ranked Romanian, has shown solid recent form on faster courts but lacks comparable experience against top competition. The grass-court opener favors players with strong net approaches and quick adaptation, areas where Zheng holds a clear edge historically, while any lingering physical concerns or early-season rust could extend opportunities for an upset.
