Recent IPCA readings have moderated, with the July 2026 year-over-year rate at 4.44% and the August IPCA-15 preview at 4.24%, aided by seasonal electricity discounts and softer food and transport components. This has supported trader positioning around the 5.00-5.49% bracket for full-year 2026, aligning closely with the latest Focus survey median of 5.02% and Banco Central do Brasil projections near 5.1%. Persistent services inflation, a tight labor market, fiscal stimulus effects, and residual risks from commodities and weather patterns continue to cap downside probabilities while limiting upside conviction above 5.5%. The next Copom decision and September data releases remain key near-term catalysts for shifts in implied probabilities.
