Recent polling shows the Parti Québécois maintaining a lead near 30 percent, while the Parti libéral du Québec and Coalition Avenir Québec have tightened into a virtual tie around 23 percent in late August surveys, with the Conservatives also advancing. This fragmentation of the non-sovereignist vote, combined with regional divides—PLQ strength among anglophones and allophones in Montreal versus CAQ and PCQ gains among francophones elsewhere—has kept the contest for second place highly competitive. Seat projections reflect this uncertainty, with PLQ favored for official opposition status but CAQ retaining an outside path through stronger performance in close ridings. The official campaign launch and any late shifts in voter consolidation ahead of the October 5 vote could further separate the contenders.
