The 2026 CFL season opens with the Montreal Alouettes visiting the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Tim Hortons Field in a Thursday night East Division clash. Both clubs enter at 0-0, but roster health stands out as the dominant factor, with Montreal sidelining multiple wide receivers and running backs due to hamstring and back issues while Hamilton is without receiver Shemar Bridges. Quarterback Davis Alexander returns for the Alouettes after last season’s injury-limited campaign, facing a Tiger-Cats defense that struggled against the run in 2025. The matchup also serves as a rematch of the prior year’s playoff meeting, adding rivalry context to the home opener for Hamilton after several years without one.
