The open race for Hobart Lord Mayor, following incumbent Anna Reynolds's decision not to seek re-election in 2026, has produced a fragmented field of mostly independent councillors and aldermen. With nominations opening shortly before the October vote and no dominant frontrunner emerging, trader prices reflect broad uncertainty across a large list of contenders. Preferential voting, combined with limited early polling data and ongoing council divisions over development, rates, and local priorities, keeps implied probabilities clustered near even money. Recent visibility from sitting members such as Marti Zucco, Mike Dutta, John Kelly, Louise Bloomfield, Ryan Posselt, and Bill Harvey has yet to produce clear separation. Late candidate statements, preference deals, or targeted local-issue campaigns in the final weeks could shift support and widen the gap before ballots close.
