Spot gold (XAUUSD) has rallied above $4,720 per ounce as of May 9, 2026, marking a roughly 3% gain for the week amid persistent inflation concerns and softening U.S. dollar sentiment against major currencies. Traders are factoring in hawkish Federal Reserve signals from recent communications, yet safe-haven demand persists due to geopolitical risks and robust central bank purchases, pushing prices from early-week lows near $4,600. Key supports include real yields remaining subdued relative to inflation expectations, with 10-year Treasury yields hovering around 4.5%. Post-week catalysts include April CPI data on May 12, potentially influencing rate cut odds, alongside nonfarm payrolls previews; monitor DXY index breaks below 105 for bullish gold continuation.
