Rinky Hijikata enters as the clear trader favorite against Dane Sweeny in the Miami Open qualifying first round, with market odds reflecting his superior ATP ranking of No. 170 versus Sweeny's No. 280. Hijikata's recent momentum from a Challenger title in Canberra and strong hard-court showings contrasts Sweeny's struggles in qualifiers at Indian Wells and earlier losses on the surface. No head-to-head history exists between the fellow Australians, but Hijikata's experience in bigger events, including his 2024 Australian Open doubles triumph, bolsters his edge on Miami's fast hard courts. Watch for fatigue factors, as both arrive from recent tournaments, with the winner advancing to face a tougher qualifier matchup.
