Marco Trungelliti rides surging clay-court momentum into the Barcelona Open qualifying final against Spaniard Pedro Martinez after both notched Q1 wins on April 11—Trungelliti outlasting Nicolai Budkov Kjaer 6-4, 4-6, 6-4, and Martinez securing a 6-3, 4-3 retirement over veteran Pablo Carreno Busta. The 36-year-old Argentine, fresh off a Marrakech ATP 250 final loss that vaulted him to career-high No. 76 ranking, boasts strong recent form including upsets over Corentin Moutet. Martinez, ranked No. 119 with a 2-6 YTD record, counters with a perfect 2-0 head-to-head edge, home-crowd boost on familiar clay, and stylistic matchup advantages despite recent Monte Carlo qualifying exit. Upset potential remains high in this evenly poised clash for a main-draw spot.
