Ben Dudman holds the leading position in this open Meander Valley mayoral contest following incumbent Wayne Johnston's April 2026 announcement that he would not seek re-election after two terms. Johnston cited personal factors including family time, travel interests, and the demands of the role. Dudman, a sitting councillor with prior mayoral candidacy experience, has emphasized infrastructure, waste services, and community engagement in recent statements. The October 2026 Tasmanian local government election remains several weeks away, leaving room for additional nominations and voter assessments of platforms. Trader pricing reflects this uncertainty, with limited differentiation among potential contenders and no dominant polling or endorsement signals yet available to shift implied probabilities.
