Apple faces substantial regulatory and political barriers to sourcing CXMT DRAM in 2026, driving the 76.5% market-implied probability of no purchase. The company has lobbied the Trump administration since mid-2026 for assurances against Entity List placement for the Pentagon-blacklisted Chinese memory maker, amid AI-driven shortages that prompted price hikes on Macs and iPads. However, CXMT’s output remains largely committed through 2027, with capacity focused on domestic Chinese clients like Xiaomi and ZTE, while congressional opposition and reputational risks tied to alleged military links deter progress. Recent reports note exploratory testing for China-specific devices but no confirmed supply agreements, leaving any deal vulnerable to last-minute policy shifts or capacity constraints before year-end.
