Hamad Medjedovic, ranked No. 83 with a career-high of 57, enters as the higher-seeded player against No. 122 Vilius Gaubas in the Barcelona Open qualifying first round on outdoor clay at Pista Andres Gimeno. No prior head-to-head exists between the 22-year-old Serb (6-2) and 21-year-old Lithuanian (5-10), but Medjedovic holds Elo and ranking edges despite a modest 3-5 YTD record, including a recent R32 clay loss to Vit Kopriva in Marrakech. Gaubas shows stronger clay form at 7-7 YTD, highlighted by a Chile Open quarterfinal run, though he fell in Bucharest R1 last week. Both arrive off clay defeats with no reported injuries; Medjedovic's serve and height could prove decisive in best-of-three sets amid mild Barcelona spring conditions.
