SPD's positioning in the September 20 Berlin state election reflects its broader national weakness, with federal polling averages near 12% amid coalition strains and voter shifts toward CDU, Greens, AfD, and Die Linke. The party holds junior status in the incumbent CDU-SPD senate under Mayor Kai Wegner, facing localized criticism over infrastructure issues while competing directly for center-left and progressive votes in a fragmented field. Recent INSA polling placed SPD at 15%, yet trader consensus clusters tightly around 10-16% due to turnout volatility, potential late swings among swing voters, and uncertainty over whether SPD can consolidate its base or suffer further erosion. Developments such as stronger CDU or AfD mobilization, coalition tensions surfacing publicly, or improved SPD messaging on housing and services could widen the range before election day.

This market will resolve according to the percentage of valid second votes (Zweitstimme) received by SPD in the specified election.
If the reported value falls exactly between two brackets, then this market will resolve to the higher range bracket.
This market will resolve solely based on the percentage of valid second votes (Zweitstimme) won by the specified party, defined as the number of valid second votes won by the specified party divided by the total number of valid second votes in the specified election.
Valid vote percentages will be counted only where the Election Office of Berlin (Landeswahlleiter Berlin) attributes them to the aforementioned party. This market will resolve based on the results of this election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting.
