This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the highest temperature recorded by NOAA at the Wellington Intl Airport Station in degrees Celsius on 2 Sep '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from NOAA, specifically the highest reading under the "Temp" column for all times on this day, available here: https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=nzwn If NOAA data for the observation date is unavailable by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, the Weather Underground Daily Observations table will be used as the resolution source. In the event which there is no data for the observation date by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, this market will resolve to the lowest bracket. To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the "Switch to Metric Units" button until the relevant table displays °C. This market can not resolve until the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Celsius (eg, 9°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.**Northwest winds and springtime warming are positioning 16°C as the consensus favorite for Wellington’s highest temperature on September 2, 2026, with current forecasts centering on 14–15°C but allowing room for modest exceedance under clear, breezy conditions.** Official and model guidance from sources including WeatherBug, Met Office, and regional outlooks indicate a high near 14–15°C (roughly 57–59°F) on the day, driven by northwest flow advecting milder air across the region amid partly sunny skies and gusty conditions. Early September climatology for Wellington shows average daily highs of 13–14°C, with recent days in late August/early September running close to or slightly above normal under similar wind regimes. Strong winds (frequently 20–25 mph or more) enhance mixing but can also limit extreme daytime heating; however, reduced cloud cover in the latest runs supports temperatures reaching the mid-teens Celsius. Trader emphasis on 16°C (60.5% implied probability) versus lower probabilities for 15°C or 17°C reflects this near-term forecast consensus tempered by the inherent uncertainty in short-range model guidance and Wellington’s microclimate variability. No major anomalies or blocking patterns are indicated that would push readings significantly higher or lower. Updated model runs and official briefings from MetService or equivalent agencies over the next 24 hours will be the primary catalysts for any shifts in these market-implied odds.
