Kevin Kiley, the incumbent who switched to independent status ahead of redistricting, leads early returns in California's June 2 top-two primary for the 6th Congressional District, reflecting strong name recognition and limited opposition in his new registration. A crowded Democratic field, including Richard Pan, Thien Ho, and others, has split votes among similar candidates, positioning Pan as the likely second-place finisher based on preliminary counts. Republican Michael Stansfield's unexpected showing stems from being the sole candidate listed under that party, though Democratic-leaning mail ballots still outstanding could shift final standings before certification. Trader consensus prices Kiley and Pan as the probable advancers to the November general, with low odds for others given the current margins and historical patterns of late-count dynamics in California primaries.
