Chen Ting-fei secured the Democratic Progressive Party nomination for the November 28, 2026 Tainan mayoral election after prevailing in the January primary over fellow legislator Lin Chun-hsien. Tainan’s consistent support for DPP candidates in recent local contests, combined with Chen’s legislative record and local name recognition, has anchored trader expectations around her candidacy. The Kuomintang’s Hsieh Lung-chieh remains the main challenger, yet recent polling and historical turnout patterns in the city have kept his implied odds low. Late shifts could still arise from national political currents, candidate-specific controversies, or turnout differentials among key voter blocs ahead of the vote.
