In the Wuning Challenger semifinal on outdoor hard courts, ATP No. 251 Fajing Sun faces No. 299 Pavel Kotov in their first head-to-head matchup, with trader consensus viewing it as evenly matched given both players' flawless paths to this stage. Sun, the home favorite, hasn't dropped a set, dominating Philip Sekulic 7-6(?), 6-3 in the round of 16 and Justin Boulais 6-1, 6-1 in quarters, leveraging a potent 82% first-serve points won. Kotov showed resilience, rallying past higher-ranked Ilia Simakin 2-6, 7-6(5), 6-3 after a straight-sets win over Keegan Smith, buoyed by his 3-0 hard-court record this year and recent Challenger finals in Koblenz and Cherbourg. Sun's ranking edge and crowd support counter Kotov's superior YTD form (16-3), setting up a tight contest hinging on serve holds and break-point conversion.
