Top-seeded Alexander Zverev, the world No. 3 and defending BMW Open champion, holds a clear edge entering his Round of 16 clay-court clash against No. 37 Gabriel Diallo, whom he defeated in four sets at the Australian Open earlier this year. Zverev advanced via a gritty three-set win over Miomir Kecmanovic in the opening round, showcasing resilience on home soil in Munich amid positive clay-season momentum following Monte-Carlo. Diallo impressed with a straight-sets rout of Vitaliy Sachko but faces stylistic and experience gaps against Zverev's baseline power and crowd support. No reported injuries; traders weigh Zverev's head-to-head dominance, ranking superiority, and surface familiarity as key drivers of consensus favoritism, though Diallo's rising form adds upset intrigue.
