BJP's decisive victory in the 2026 West Bengal assembly elections, securing a majority and ending Trinamool Congress rule, has driven strong trader consensus for a BJP win in the Kolkata Municipal Corporation election. In those polls, BJP led in 102 of the prior 144 wards compared to TMC's 42, signaling a major shift in urban voter preferences. The resignation of TMC Mayor Firhad Hakim, subsequent board dissolution, and appointment of an administrator have further altered the landscape ahead of the December 2026 vote, now expanded to 209 wards following delimitation. BJP's planned intensive outreach across the new wards reinforces this positioning. Late shifts in delimitation outcomes, turnout variations, or major campaign developments could still alter results before polling.
