**Pete Crow-Armstrong leads the 2026 WAR leaderboard at approximately 7.9–8.6 across major models, driven by elite center-field defense (23 Outs Above Average, top percentile) paired with a .276/.374/.550 slash line, 33 home runs, 32 stolen bases, and 83 RBI in 134–135 games for the Cubs.** His baserunning and positional value add further separation from position-player peers. Shohei Ohtani sits several wins behind (around 7.0 total WAR) after a pitching shutdown since early July due to left knee soreness that limits his two-way contributions. Bobby Witt Jr., Yordan Alvarez, and pitchers such as Cristopher Sánchez, Jacob Misiorowski, Cam Schlittler, Chris Sale, and Dylan Cease trail further back on current pace and recent form. Trader pricing reflects Crow-Armstrong’s sustained August production and the narrow remaining window for challengers to close the gap before season’s end.
