Incumbent Democrat Don Davis seeks a third term in North Carolina’s 1st District against Republican nominee Laurie Buckhout, who secured the GOP primary in March 2026. The seat shifted rightward after 2025 redistricting, earning Lean Republican ratings from Cook, Inside Elections, and Sabato’s Crystal Ball. Recent polling shows a tight contest, with some April and May surveys placing Buckhout narrowly ahead or in a statistical tie. National Republican groups have increased spending to target the race, while Davis has held the seat through two prior narrow victories. Trader pricing on Democratic and Republican outcomes reflects ongoing uncertainty over turnout, campaign dynamics, and the impact of the adjusted district lines ahead of the November general election.
