Incumbent Republican Richard Hudson faces Democratic nominee Richard Ojeda in North Carolina’s 9th congressional district for the November 3, 2026 general election. The seat carries a clear Republican tilt, reflected in the district’s Cook Partisan Voting Index and Donald Trump’s 16-point margin in the prior presidential contest. Hudson advanced unopposed through the March 2026 Republican primary, while Ojeda secured the Democratic nomination after a contested primary. Recent redistricting completed in late 2025 further entrenched the area’s partisan lean, limiting competitive opportunities for challengers. With no major polling shifts or late developments reported through early August 2026, trader pricing continues to align with the structural and incumbency advantages favoring the Republican outcome.
