The Democratic Party's commanding 91.5% implied probability in the NJ-12 House race reflects the district's D+13 Cook Partisan Voter Index, consistent 60%+ Democratic general election margins in recent cycles like 2024, and urban-suburban demographics across Middlesex, Union, Mercer, and Somerset counties favoring Democrats. Incumbent Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman's retirement created an open seat, but a crowded June 2 Democratic primary features 13 well-funded contenders—led by Adam Hamawy ($547K raised), Brad Cohen, and Susan Altman—while Republican Gregg Mele, a perennial low-fundraiser ($55K), stands alone. Recent April 14 candidate debate highlighted affordability divides without altering Solid Democratic ratings from Cook and others. Upsets remain possible via a weakened Democratic nominee post-primary, GOP heavyweight recruitment, or national midterm dynamics.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
