Incumbent Democrat Kim Schrier advanced from Washington's August 2026 top-two primary with a clear majority, positioning her against the leading Republican nominee for the November general election. Forecasters rate the district, encompassing Seattle suburbs and areas east of the Cascades, as solidly Democratic based on prior results and voting patterns. Schrier's established incumbency advantage, consistent fundraising, and alignment with local priorities have reinforced trader expectations of a Democratic hold. A Republican victory would require an unusually strong national partisan swing, an unforeseen candidate weakness, or significant late shifts in voter turnout within the district's competitive eastern precincts.
