Trader consensus overwhelmingly favors the BJP at 95.5% to win the Assam Legislative Assembly, reflecting pre-poll opinion surveys projecting a landslide for the incumbent NDA alliance, potentially exceeding 100 of 126 seats, as forecasted by multiple outlets in March 2026. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's popularity, sustained development initiatives, and the opposition Congress-led Mahajot's fragmentation—trailing at 26-28 seats in polls—have solidified this lead since the BJP's 2021 victory of 60 seats plus allies. High voter turnout of over 85% on April 9 further boosted sentiment without major disruptions. Results await counting on May 4; rare challenges could arise from counting discrepancies, alliance defections, or legal disputes, though historical polling accuracy in Assam tempers such risks.
