Shevchenko enters with battle-tested form from a Miami third-round run, upsetting Ben Shelton before falling to Ugo Humbert, honing his rally tolerance despite a modest 6-6 YTD mark. Turcanu, a 20-year-old lefty, boasts recent ITF clay wins (7-3 surface record) and fervent home-crowd backing, but confronts a massive experience gap after ATP-level losses. Mild weather favors consistent clay play, with Shevchenko's heavier baseline game poised to exploit any early Romanian nerves.
