Russian President Putin warned at the recent BRICS summit that any European troop deployment would mean war, a stance Moscow has repeated amid intensified Russian strikes and drone attacks. Planning for a multinational "Coalition of the Willing" force, involving the UK, France, and others, centers on post-ceasefire peacekeeping or security guarantees rather than frontline combat, with commitments tied to a credible halt in hostilities. NATO summits and recent Contact Group meetings have prioritized aid packages and eastern flank readiness over intervention, keeping escalation risks central to trader assessments of timelines and probabilities.
