Presidential elections are scheduled to be held in Benin on 12 April 2026, with a potential runoff to be held within 15 days if no candidate secures an absolute majority. This market will resolve to the individual who is formally declared elected as President of Benin following the 2026 presidential election. To count for resolution, the individual must be formally elected as President of Benin following the 2026 presidential election. Any acting, interim, or caretaker President will not count toward the resolution of this market. If no such President is elected by March 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “Other”. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the government of Benin and the relevant electoral authorities of Benin, including the Autonomous National Electoral Commission (https://www.cena.bj/); however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Provisional results from Benin's National Autonomous Electoral Commission (CENA) show Finance Minister Romuald Wadagni securing over 94% of votes in the April 12 presidential election, driving trader consensus to 98.4% implied probability for him as next president following outgoing leader Patrice Talon's endorsement and prior parliamentary dominance by pro-government forces. Sole opposition candidate Paul Hounkpè, representing the Cowry Forces for an Emerging Benin (FCBE), conceded defeat on April 13 amid 58-59% voter turnout, with no major disputes reported. Official certification remains pending, but challenges would require substantiated legal appeals or irregularities; absent such developments, markets anticipate swift resolution to Wadagni's landslide victory.
