David Njoku’s May 2026 signing of a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Chargers has locked in near-unanimous trader consensus on that destination for the 2026 season. After nine years and the end of his Browns tenure, the Pro Bowl tight end chose the Chargers to pair with quarterback Justin Herbert under offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel and head coach Jim Harbaugh, adding a proven veteran target to an already developing tight-end room that includes Oronde Gadsden II. The deal, reported at up to $8 million with roughly $850,000 guaranteed, reflects both Njoku’s free-agent market and the Chargers’ cap-efficient approach. While the short-term pact theoretically leaves room for a midseason trade or other roster adjustment, no such developments have emerged, and the binding agreement makes any departure before or during 2026 highly unlikely.
