Recent US economic data, including resilient August nonfarm payrolls, has reinforced expectations for a more hawkish Federal Reserve path under Chair Kevin Warsh, supporting the US Dollar Index (DXY) near 99.15–99.20 as of early September 2026. Elevated Treasury yields and repriced rate-hike probabilities—now reflecting a roughly even chance of a September move—have driven the recent rally toward multi-month resistance around 100. Key upcoming releases this week, including August PPI on September 10 and CPI on September 11, will likely shape near-term sentiment, as hotter-than-expected prints could sustain higher-for-longer policy expectations while softer figures might ease pressure on the dollar. The September 16 FOMC decision remains the next major policy catalyst.
