In the ATP Challenger Busan Open on outdoor hard courts, No. 110 Sho Shimabukuro holds a ranking edge over No. 221 Ilia Simakin in their round-of-32 clash, a rematch of two prior hard-court meetings last year where Shimabukuro won both—straight sets in Zhangjiagang and via Simakin's retirement at 1-7, 2-3 in Suzhou. Shimabukuro's YTD struggles (1-4 overall, early exits at Indian Wells, Miami quals, Delray Beach, and Tokyo) contrast Simakin's fresher momentum from a Wuning Challenger second-round run, beating Ostapenkov and Paris before falling to Kotov. No injuries reported; Asian swing familiarity and head-to-head favor Shimabukuro, but Simakin's recent form signals a competitive matchup with upset potential.
