In the second round of the Monza Challenger on clay, higher-ranked Hugo Gaston (#117) holds a slight trader edge over Timofey Skatov (#198) stemming from their 1-0 head-to-head—Gaston's 2019 clay win in M25 Getxo—and his left-handed game suiting the surface. Both advanced in straight sets yesterday: Skatov dominated Norbert Gombos 6-3, 6-1 after a 3-2 clay start to 2026 including Marrakech qualifiers, while Gaston outlasted Gianluca Cadenasso 6-4, 6-4 following an early Marrakech exit. Skatov's recent clay momentum tempers the contest, with no reported injuries or withdrawals; outdoor conditions in Italy favor steady baseline play amid Gaston's 10-8 YTD record versus Skatov's 13-9.
