In the Madrid Challenger first round on clay, No. 293-ranked Dominic Stricker faces No. 290 Andrej Nedic in their debut head-to-head matchup, with both qualifiers riding momentum from recent wins. Stricker, the 23-year-old Swiss left-hander, advanced via a straight-sets qualifier victory over Pablo Manzano Lapuerta after reaching a futures final last week, leveraging his flat-hitting style suited to slower surfaces. Nedic, 21 from Bosnia and Herzegovina, grinded past Calvin Hemery in three sets yesterday, extending his strong clay form (75% win rate over last 52 matches). No injuries reported; traders eye Stricker's handedness edge versus Nedic's baseline resilience in this closely contested ATP Challenger opener.
