Fajing Sun enters as the clear trader consensus favorite against Ethan Cook in the first round of the ATP Challenger Wuning on hard courts, buoyed by his higher ATP ranking around 252 versus Cook's sub-300 standing, greater experience at 29 years old, and home-country advantage in China. The Australian Cook, 23 and a qualifier, advanced past Ryuki Matsuda in straight sets but faces an uphill battle as a lower-seeded newcomer with limited Challenger-level success. No prior singles head-to-head exists, though Sun and partner Tung-Lin Wu recently defeated Cook and Tai Sach in doubles. No injuries reported; surface suits both, but Sun's consistency edges recent form amid Cook's qualifier momentum. Upsets possible if Cook exploits early aggression.
