Füchse Berlin host MT Melsungen in the Handball-Bundesliga opener at Max-Schmeling-Halle, with traders pricing the matchup as essentially even at 50% implied probability. Berlin enters amid a thin roster following major summer departures of Dejan Milosavljev and Lasse Andersson, plus ongoing absences for Nils Lichtlein (foot surgery) and Fabian Wiede (knee recovery). A 31-38 Supercup loss to SC Magdeburg just days earlier exposed defensive coordination gaps and placed extra load on Mathias Gidsel, though the home side has historically dominated this fixture and benefits from strong crowd support. MT Melsungen arrives with competitive depth, recent European pedigree, and attacking threats like Dainis Kristopans, positioning them to exploit any Berlin vulnerabilities. Late roster tweaks, Gidsel’s workload management, or early defensive adjustments could shift sentiment quickly in either direction.
