Both clubs sit below .500—Royals at 5-7 following losses to the Guardians and a split with Milwaukee, Tigers at 4-8 despite pacing the division with 39 runs scored. Royals' bullpen is thinned by 15-day injured list stints for James McArthur (elbow inflammation), Carlos Estevez (foot), and Stephen Kolek (oblique), pressuring late-inning stability, while Tigers rotation misses Justin Verlander (hip) and Jackson Jobe (elbow).
