Pittsburgh Pirates (7-4) host the Washington Nationals (4-7) on April 13 at PNC Park in the series opener, with Paul Skenes (RHP) facing Cade Cavalli (RHP) in a marquee pitching matchup favoring the surging Pirates ace at home. Pittsburgh boasts early NL Central momentum after a strong 7-4 start, while the Nationals languish in the NL East basement amid rotation depth issues, including Josiah Gray and DJ Herz on the 60-day IL. Recent roster hits include Pirates 3B Jared Triolo's 10-day IL stint for a knee injury and Nationals RHP Paxton Schultz's fresh 15-day elbow placement. Head-to-head trends lean Pirates, with home-field and rest advantages potentially amplifying trader focus on PIT's bullpen strength versus Washington's offensive struggles (4.24 runs/game).
