Boston Red Sox travel to Busch Stadium for an interleague series opener against the St. Louis Cardinals, with Connelly Early (0-0, 2.89 ERA) starting for a 4-8 Boston squad mired in fifth place in the AL East and just 1-5 on the road, hampered by a rash of recent pitching injuries including Justin Slaten's oblique strain (15-day IL, April 8) and Johan Oviedo's flexor issue, alongside absences of Kutter Crawford and Patrick Sandoval. Cardinals (7-5, fourth in NL Central) counter with struggling Dustin May (0-2, 15.95 ERA) but boast home-field advantage and a balanced attack led by Jordan Walker's five homers. Both clubs enter on two-game win streaks—Red Sox sweeping Milwaukee, Cardinals splitting with Detroit and Washington—highlighting Boston's rotation depth concerns versus St. Louis' momentum in this early-season tilt.
