Pavel Kotov advanced to the Wuning 1 Challenger semifinal with a gritty comeback win over second seed Ilia Simakin, 2-6, 7-6(5), 6-3, saving a match point in the quarterfinals after straight-set victories earlier, bolstering his strong 2026 form of 16-3 including Koblenz and Cherbourg Challenger titles. Fifth-seeded Fajing Sun cruised undefeated in sets, capping with a 6-1, 6-1 rout of Justin Boulais, leveraging home hard-court comfort in China amid his 10-9 season record. No prior head-to-head or injury reports influence trader consensus favoring Kotov's experience as a former top-50 player and higher-quality wins, though Sun's momentum and surface familiarity pose upset potential in this first meeting.
