Kevin Kiley, the independent incumbent who switched districts and party affiliation after redistricting under Proposition 50, leads early returns from the June 2 top-two primary in California's 6th congressional district. A crowded Democratic field that included Richard Pan, Thien Ho, and others split support, allowing Republican Michael Stansfield—a low-profile candidate with minimal campaign resources—to hold a slim advantage over Pan for the second advancing spot. Late-counted ballots, which often favor Democrats in California, could still alter the final order. The top two finishers advance to the November general election, with traders focusing on whether the Democratic split and Kiley's positioning lock in these early frontrunners.
