The municipal elections in Ostrava, scheduled for October 2026, feature a fragmented field where incumbent mayor Jan Dohnal leads the rebranded srdcOVA coalition (ODS, KDU-ČSL, TOP 09 and independents) while Richard Vereš heads the ANO ticket as mayor of the Slezská Ostrava district. Recent coalition rebranding and candidate nominations across parties, including Piráti's Rostislav Řeha, Ostravak's Lukáš Semerák and others from smaller groupings, have kept the race competitive without decisive shifts in positioning. Local priorities such as transport infrastructure, housing, public safety and metropolitan cooperation with the Katowice agglomeration continue to shape voter considerations in a region with historically divided support. Trader consensus around the top two contenders reflects balanced assessments of incumbency advantages, party organizational strength and regional voting patterns, with separation likely hinging on campaign momentum, coalition negotiations or turnout in the final weeks before the vote.
