This market will resolve to "Yes" if Lionel Messi appears in at least one match for the Argentina senior men's national team played between September 1, 2026 and December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". An appearance means taking the field, whether as a starter or as a substitute, for any length of time. Being named in the squad or on the bench without taking the field does not count. Competitive matches and friendly matches both count. The resolution source for this market will be official information from the Argentine Football Association and CONMEBOL; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Lionel Messi’s official retirement from Argentina duty in late August 2026, announced days after the World Cup final loss to Spain, has anchored the 72% probability on “No.” The 39-year-old cited having “nothing left to give” after 207 caps and 125 goals, a decision reinforced by the August death of his father and the physical demands of a sixth World Cup. Scaloni’s squad transition plans and the emergence of younger talents further support limited upside for additional 2026 appearances, even in friendlies. While Messi remains active with Inter Miami through 2028, the combination of age, recent form fatigue, and explicit international exit leaves little room for reversal before year-end.
